Anjli Mata Part 1: Music Education Insights for Teachers and Learners
Anjli Mata has been a dedicated educator teaching piano, guitar and vocals throughout her career of over 50 years now. She is the academic head of music, Trinity College London, in India regularly conducting workshops and seminars for music teachers and students across the country. . Determined to learn Western classical piano as a young girl in 60s Calcutta, hers is a story of quiet resilience and finding purpose in expanding the music education landscape in India. And for her wonderful impact in this field she was recently awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award. . In this conversation, we discuss learning western classical piano, keyboard vs weighted keys, exposure to classical pieces, the potential for improving music education in India, the need for teacher training, the music scene in Calcutta, the rigour of ATCL, LTCL and FTCL and more! .
